Roof and other happenings !

Long time, no update.  We're still moving along nicely and now have our roof up!  Out of all the days to rain, it had to be Friday last week when our roof was booked in to be done.  We had the fascia/gutters done last Monday and then nothing (yes, nothing!) happened at the house for the rest of the week.  Yesterday it was back to work and the roof was done.  Pictures of the finished frame and roof below - apologies for the terrible quality iPhone pictures of the roof.  For those of you with a keen eye, yes it is Trimdek roofing (normal colorbond is just so much nicer!) as the pitch on the high side is 8 degrees and the low side only 3 degrees hence the need for Trimdek to stop water building up and flooding the roof.  Looking forward to seeing what this week brings....

My favourite part of the house - the 4m high entry way - can't wait to see this finished!

I love this picture - the sun creating the shadows makes it look so crazy!

Speed framing

Well at what seems like lightning speed, the chippies worked hard today at getting our frame up. We didn't realise that Coral don't use pre-fabricated frames and at our visit yesterday we found a huge pile of timber had been delivered. The chippies flicked the lines yesterday afternoon and by this afternoon they had 90% of the frame up! They'll be back tomorrow to finish fitting the main beams over the garage and alfresco opening - pretty impressive considering they were stick framing. By the way things are moving along we might just be lucky to have the trusses up if not a roof by the end of the week - keep your fingers crossed!

We have a slab !

Well time is certainly flying by in our little land of building.  It's two weeks today since site cut and we have our slab down.  The concretors were just finishing up on site when we got there and they said they were happy with how it went done and to my (very) untrained concreting eye it looks good to me too!  It does look so much higher than the original ground level though!

Really happy with how things are moving along at the moment.  Onwards and upwards now - can't wait to see the frames up.

Garage directly in front and entry to the right.

Laundry & bathroom.  Hot water unit slab outside.

Kitchen island where the black pipe is coming up, media room behind that and alfresco where the guy is working.

Slab Prep

Over the past two days we've been getting prepped for our slab lay which is happening as we speak.  Originally it was scheduled for yesterday but after our plumber knocked a number of the survey pegs out of place we had to get the house re-pegged before the slab prep could begin.  Some photos of the slab prep are below - slab pics to follow tonight!

All boxed up and awaiting concrete!

We've been plumbed & electrified !

The rain stayed away for almost all of the week and the plumbers and electricians were in on Friday getting the services up and running on the block.  The sand for the slab got delivered this morning so it looks like it is scheduled to happen this coming week!  I hope you're all enjoying the long weekend and the awesome weather in Brisbane!

Husband is a plumber so of course he did a very thorough check of all the pipework to make sure it was up to scratch!

Late Night Findings

We dropped in to the block rather late last night to find a heap of these .....

The surveyor had obviously been in during the day and pegged out the house.  How scarily big it looks sitting on our block!  Did other people get that feeling when they first saw the outline?!

With the rain that has been hanging around, it was a bit muddy all over and I left feeling a centimetre or two taller from all of the mud stuck to the bottom of my shoes!  Lets hope the next few days bring sunshine and fine weather.
